Starting a Blog in COVID-19

The year 2020 – the year that wasn’t. We really didn’t see the shit show of 2020 coming, only The Simpsons seemed to know what was coming, if you’ve been keeping track of all the memes of the coincidental show predictions. Honestly, I did not expect this to be the start of a new decade, I knew there was a reason why i didn’t make any new years resolutions.

This year I have spent an insane amount of time on the internet, so much so that i turned off my tracker on my phone because i was ashamed of myself. I actually started 2020 without any social media in a ‘cleanse’ that was supposed to last the year. Fast forward to March of 2020 and I am in lockdown and my social media is back up and running like I never left.

Only, there isn’t much to post about because I’m literally doing nothing. At the start of the Corona wave i thought it was fabulous, who doesn’t want a paid vacation from work for a few weeks!? Spoiler alert: I got made redundant and the whole world around us went mad like a slow motion car crash you see coming but can’t look away from.

Like most 30 year olds, I have been following Kourtney Kardashians Instagram POOSH and ill be honest, at first i thought it would be so dull and drab kind of like her voice (no offence, I really like her) but then I found a lot I liked on it, only none of it was affordable or realistic for anyone i know.

What all my hours of social media has led me to believe is that no one is actually out there relatable at all anymore. Even Celeste Barber who makes a living from posting more relatable moments than celebrities. If i am still searching for content that relates to my life and i care about, then it makes sense to me, to be the one to put it out there.

Maybe i have a lot of creative juices flowing, maybe i am just looking for a way to distract me from my smoking cravings (I am on day five) either way, I’m going to get real with you so sit back, and read along if you’re also in your thirties and having a way better time then you did in your twenties.
